Hi Bill,

Thanks as always for keeping us up to date. With Simmons not playing yesterday, I wonder if he will follow Stewart back to Germany. Did they say why he left Liberec? Hopefully it was not due to further racial issues.

Nice reference to The Saratogian, my hometown paper. I'm a Sabres fan but I have been loving being wedged 20min away from both the Phantoms & Albany Devils during the lockout.

Andrej Meszaros skated on Tuesday with full gear on for the second time since sustaining a torn Achilles tendon that required surgery back in August.
"If I can come back in four months, that would be awesome," he said. "But if it is six months, then that is what it is." Meszaros is pleased with his progress and Flyers GM Paul Holmgren feels that the Philadelphia defenseman's recovery is on schedule. The lockout has afforded Meszaros time to heal without the worry of missing any games. He also continues to be paid while having access to the team's facilities until he is deemed fit to return. Meszaros would like to be playing in Europe right now instead, but if the NHL begins a shortened schedule in December or January then there's a chance that he will be ready.

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told The Inquirer on Tuesday that the league and the players' association are "very far apart" when it comes to getting a deal done. Special counsel to the NHLPA Steve Fehr believes a deal can be struck "very quickly" if the two sides make a breakthrough in negotiations, but there haven't been any meetings since last week's talks. Fehr and Daly both said they are open to having a mediator help out, but Daly doesn't think it will do much good. "I guess the simple answer is that neither side has felt that the introduction of a mediator would help the process," he said when asked why one hasn't been hired yet. "We haven't discussed it, though, for a couple of months now."

Once again Fehr is a master of stating the obvious like it's groundbreaking news.

Does your mediocre amount of concern for Giroux's health have any consequential impact either on Giroux or yourself?

I was banned for a week for my outrageous and offending comments. I have tried over the past several months to "clean up my act". But a comment like this I can't even begin to justify. So I wish to apologize, and I will work hard to ensure such comments don't happen again.

We know that Hockeybuzz is in many ways like a church - a place for communicating, a place for solace, and place for peace. No cursing, no vulgarities, and respect for others. The refs who enforce these policies do a terrific job, keeping all threads free from vulgarities and offensive comments. And much like firemen, the refs volunteer their time and provide their services free of charge.Again, I sincerely apologize and above all, seek forgiveness.

You know. You post some weird things sometimes, even for me haha.

However this post had me actually laughing out loud, which I rarely get on the internet.

Like Rinaldo and all that precede him, it appears you are a target.

Wish you well on your travels DaMan...

I am going to post a new blog shortly, because I will be tied up this evening and until midday tomorrow, so this will serve as the "Thursday" blog a bit early.

Topics:

* Phantoms vs. Manchester
* Simmonds leaves his Czech team
* Grossmann signs short-term deal with Södertälje SK
* KHL roundup (multi-point games for Voracek and Fedotenko, Bryzgalov scratched in a 2-0 shutout win)
* Thursday game lineup

If I'm a target, it is probably deserved. Nevertheless, wish you well. Lets hope we get a season at some point. This having to talking to your wife and kids thing is driving me nuts and I need my hockey back.
